Match the Celebrity: Lucero

When I was a little girl, I was a HUGE fan of Lucero. I had most of her cassettes and knew almost every single one of her songs. I would watch her movies and wanted to grow my hair long just like her. A decade and a half later...and my taste in music has changed a bit, but I still enjoy hearing Lucero belt out some rancheras, she is amazing!

This past November she walked down the green carpet at the 2010 Latin Grammys wearing a long black dress. Boy! She has stayed in great shape! A lot of people liked her dress, and I must admit that though the dress was risky, she pulled it off.

I came across a very similar dress:

This ASOS Lace Insert Jersey Maxi Dress is only $44.82! You will have a great replica of Lucero's green carpet dress :)

Bandage Dress

Bandage style dresses are not necessarily on top of my list when it comes to scouting for a new dress, but I must admit that they are fun and definitely sexy. If I were to wear one, I would more than likely throw on a blazer and some tights...but for those that don't mind showing a little leg, I came across a great find.

You could buy this Herve Leger dress and pay $1,590
or
Rent it from Rent the Runway and only pay $150

...but if $150 is still out of your budget...this next dress hits the jackpot!

Beaded Silver Dress from Forever 21 $29.80

Hair Fetish

My hair is long, real long. No extensions needed.  A new year means new hair. No, I do not want to dye it just yet, ok maybe a little darker but...I want to style it differently. I have never "round brush/blow dry" my hair. First of all, my blow dryer is crappy. It takes me a full 25 minutes just to dry my hair (is that a lot of time or what?). Second of all, I really never knew/learned the technique to blow dry my hair and give it style. Truthfully, I just use the blow dryer to dry it, period. Third and final reason, I do not own a round brush...bummer.

This will all change, I tell you...after watching Anna Lee give a hair tutorial...wowsers...I am intrigued! This is what my hair needs: big and voluptuous curls (no curling iron needed!). I probably need a few weeks to practice...realistically, a few months (that's the perfectionist in me) but I have a feeling it will all be worth it in the end.

I will let you all in on the secret to fabulous hair. Check out Anna Lee's video below:

Thank you Anna Lee for giving my hair hope! ;)

Girls Night Out Recap

Last week I attended Girls Night Out. It was my first time and I was anxious to see all of the commotion. After about two and a half hours in traffic, my friend and I arrived to our destination at the Petersen Automotive Museum. The event was not held at the actual museum, but outside in a tent. When my friend and I arrived, we were greeted with our pink wristbands and directed to the back to obtain our goodie bags. The goodie bags were HEAVY! I did not think they were going to contain so much stuff!

One thing I did not like about the venue was the fact that it was small. There were so many girls and I was literally burning up (needless to say they had heaters in there)! It was hard to go from booth to booth and check out carefully all of the vendors. There was a lot of pushing and shoving, it almost seemed like another Black Friday! Besides the small venue, my friend and I managed to find some great accessories and we did have a good time. There was an open bar, I do not drink therefore, I got myself some LaCroix sparkling water.

There was definitely a lot to see and the heavy goodie bag was not making it any easier. Vendors were selling the following: hair extensions, hair pieces, rings, bracelets, necklaces, hats, scarves, different services for example: online dating, laser treatments and even eyebrow waxing. Some vendors were selling clothes as well.

As far as the clothing, some of it was way out of my price range, so I decided to pass. All in all, I had a great time.

Did you attend the event? How was your experience?

Sneaker Heels

Last year in October, my siblings and I attended a Lakers vs. Warriors preseason game. I remembered I was getting over a cold but wanted to look my best for the game...so what does a girl do to look her best? Wear sneaker heels!

Most people know that I love to wear heels and the taller they are the better. I have fooled so many people into thinking that I am incredibly tall (thank you 6" heels!). I am 5'5", about average I would say, but I just love to feel ginormous (gigantic+enormous).

While I was getting ready for the game, my brother walks in my room and says the following: "Oh my gosh Vero are you serious? Why are you getting ready for a basketball game? You don't have to do your makeup or hair dude, come on!"

Are you kidding me? One always has to look their best (little did my brother know that when we arrived to the arena I was interviewed by a local news reporter...see what I mean?). Since it was a basketball game, I did not want to wear dressy heels but I also did not want to wear flats, so I pull out my lovely sneaker heels from GoJane!

They may not have a 6 inch heel but it gives me enough height. I have also worn these last year during Halloween when I wore my 8th grade cheerleader outfit as my costume! They look sporty enough and with a heel as an added bonus!

While recently browsing through Carah Amelie's website, her shoe pick for this week was the Ash Women's Genial Fashion Sneaker, I loved that this sneaker has a wedge, and for those that do not like extra tall shoes, this 2" wedge is perfect. Although the $210 price tag may not be that intriguing, I have found similar shoes for you to save major $dinero$.

These REDOPIN Buckled Wedge Sneakers are $68 and can be found at YesStyle.com. The wedge is 4 inches but have in mind that in a wedge you do not get tired so easily. Aren't these almost identical to Carah's shoe pick? These shoes only come in black.

If you are looking for a smaller heel/wedge check out these: Trisha andWoorisin.

If you are looking for some similar to my GoJane sneaker heels, check out the Wifky.
Another one of my favorites from the site are these Holly Shoes. They are $65 and have an even higher heel. You can make these shoes match anything: skinny jeans, shorts with thigh high socks, a shirt dress and even a long maxi skirt. The point is not to have the sneaker heels wear you but for you to wear and enjoy the heels in your own personal style. The Holly Shoes come in the colors black and white, unfortunately, they ran out of the khaki.

I must admit that this is the first time I come across this website and they seem to have a lot of variety and the prices are not bad, plus you get free shipping if you order more than $150 worth of merchandise.

The Lakers ended up winning the game, final score: Warriors 107, Lakers 113.

GO LAKERS!
