Drink Away Your STRESS!

This post may be a little different than any previous posts, but I felt the need to share this information with you because although it sounds cliché...beauty starts from within, and taking care of your body is vital.

As I was deep cleaning my house this weekend, I came across a magazine dedicated to natural juices and shakes that battle anything from varicose veins to the lack of energy. I was intrigued and caught myself reading this magazine for the next thirty minutes.

At some point in our life, most us have or will reach high levels of anxiety and tension that will turn into stress...a six letter word that can be lethal. I've definitely been there and it is NOT a pretty sight (click here to see the outcome of my stress), but I got through it and you can too. This magazine titled, Jugos y Licuados (Juices and Shakes) has an all natural shake that will help alleviate some of the stress.

This shake is rich in Vitamin B  (click here to learn more about the benefits of B vitamins) and  it will help you when your level of anxiety has reached its peak. Keep reading to get the recipe:

Anti-Stress Shake

Ingredients:
  1. 1/4 cup of almond milk
  2. 1/2 cup of pineapple juice
  3. 1 cup of pineapple chunks
  4. 1 banana
  5. 1 tablespoon of wheat germ
Preparation:
  • Cut the pineapple and obtain the 1/2 cup of juice needed.
  • Peel the banana.
  • Mix all the ingredients in your blender until you get a homogeneous consistency.

Hope this helps..let me know if you feel the results.

Would you like me to post more of these all natural juices and shakes?

Let me know and I will be more than glad to integrate them into my blog from now on.

Denim is Slimming?

Denim is the new black. Who knew that wearing denim from head-to-toe can instantly slim you? Accentuating your waist with a thin vibrant colored or animal print belt, adds the perfect touch to your outfit.

Do you have a long torso? Camouflage your torso by wearing denim overalls or a denim jumpsuit! Although Kourtney Kardashian is petite, she was seen rocking a denim jumpsuit earlier this year on a trip to DASH Calabasas. Care for a denim jumpsuit? Alloy has a new stretch denim jumpsuit very similar to Kourtney's with snap button front closure and front trouser pockets.

Other celebrities wearing denim: Alexa Chung, Cameron Diaz, and Katie Holmes.
Fashion bloggers are certainly joining in on the denim craze. Daniela Ramirez from Nany's Klozet, paired her denim on denim ensemble with a leopard bag from Aldo and her final look was to die!

Join in on the craze:

Battle of the Coats

Inspired by Helena's Come Fly With Me and Caped posts from last year, I was left intrigued by that style of outerwear and decided to do a post on two that I found on the web and loved.

ASOS Staple Button Up Cape Coat is gorgeous! I like the shirt style collar and the two pockets in the front. Different, but I definitely like. What I don't like so much is the price tag (enter Jessie J's Price Tag song here) = $301.87

I have not purchased clothes from Go Jane before, and I must say I was surprised to see this beautiful item on their New Arrivals:

I am truly impressed with this Button Up Poncho Jacket and is one of the priciest thing I've seen on their site to date, $77.10...the investment might just be worth it. This jacket comes in two sizes: S/M and M/L.

Three Things

Three things I am currently obsess with:
1. Zara's perfume: Black Peony. I must start off by saying that I am one of the pickiest person when it comes to perfumes. I am not the kind to stick to one, but my list of favorite perfumes is not long. When my friend and I stopped by a Zara in Hollywood a while back to "window shop" (we both ended up getting a same dress in different color), I noticed their perfume section while my friend was paying.  Black Peony was the second perfume I was able to test, and as soon as I sprayed it, my sense of smell jolted with exhilaration! I am in no way an expert in describing how a perfume smells, but this perfumes says: elegance, sexiness, sophistication and glamour...seriously. I love it to the 100th degree. (Price≈ $30)

2. Tarte Cosmetics: Smooth Operator™ micronized clay finishing powder. Not only does it have a million benefits, but it is also formulated without mineral oil, parabens, phthalates, synthetic fragrance and sodium lauryl sulfate...best part? Cruelty free. I started using this a little over a month ago and I must say the results are incredible. It applies incredibly easy, the texture is extremely smooth (reminds me of baking soda) and if you are looking for a matte finish, this eliminates the shine. Even though it is white, don't worry about looking like a ghost...it is translucent once applied. Did I mention it has great reviews? ($28)

3. Last but not least The Healthy Deodorant inVanilla Grapefruit by Lavanila Laboraties. I had been looking for a 100% natural, safe and effective deodorant. I am one of the lucky girls that does not sweat a lot from her underarms, but I still want to protect them and avoid body odor with something safe and natural. I was recommended this deodorant and after one use, I was sold! I was a bit skeptical in the beginning because I like most things that I put on my body to be unscented, with the obvious exception of perfumes. Vanilla Grapefruit smells so good! I like the smell because it is soft and not too over powering. This product is natural and safe...no parabens, sulfates, synthetic dyes, petro-chemicals and phthalates. If you do sweat a lot, I do not recommend it, given that this is only a deodorant and not an anti-perspirant. ($18)

Metallic Pumps a la Anne Hathaway

Showing off an impeccable body, Anne Hathaway visited Chelsea Lately yesterday for a fun interview promoting her upcoming film One Day. She also mentions that preparing for her role as Catwoman, has lead her to love working out and it is clearly visible in this interview, but while her body looked flawless, my eyes were focused on something else...her metallic pumps. One word: cosmic!

Aldo's Bremseth pumps are pretty darn close to Anne's. So glamorous. So chic.

Watch the interview (and her shoes!) below:

Wedge Boots

Can I wear my boots already? With a 100 degree weather, the answer to that question is a definite NO, but you can be certain that I have  been drooling over quite a few pairs. One of my favorite is this Bryce Boot, which you may find at Alloy for an affordable $49.90.

You can save an additional $13 by visiting Make Me Chic and buying the Alaina02 Velvet Knee High Wedge Boots in Tan, but hurry, they already SOLD OUT once! They also come in the color Rust and Black.

Visit Make Me Chic to register your email and get exclusive offers and discounts! You can also find them on Facebook and Twitter.

Leopard Print Skyscraper

Steve Madden Carnby-L Leopard Lace Up Ankle Boots may be intimidating, but if you love heights and leopard print, this shoe makes for a fiery combination for fall. You can never go wrong with a touch of leopard, whether it be a handbag (as seen on Flor de Maria), pumps (Nany's Kloset), jumpsuit or a trench coat (9to5Chic) leopard/cheetah print is classic, and I will not get tired of saying that.

Care to save some money? Thought so! Check out this alternative by Go Jane, Lace-up Leopard Print Platform for $38.95 (16% off!)

Match the Celebrity: Kourtney Kardashian

Last Sunday, Kourtney Kardashian walked down the 2011 Teen Choice Awards blue carpet wearing The Perfect Dress in blue by Blaque Label (to see this dress in Charcoal, click here).  Flowy, summery, adequate for the event, Kourtney looked like a doll!

What a Steal! Sequin Dress: Bebe vs. Lulu's

A big difference in price but extremely similar designs.

What is your take on this dress? Are you still into cutouts? Sequins? Let me know.

A Sunday to Relax

Smocked Maxi Dress w/ Belt, Leopard watch (seen here, find a similar one here), Hat, Sparkling Bead Necklace (as seen here) and Sunglasses: Forever 21, Mengarelli Heels: Aldo

Besides having a yard sale on Saturday and attending mass on Sunday, my weekend was very relaxing. I caught up with my Netflix movies and watched Insidious (scary) and The King's Speech (excellent movie!). I intended to go horseback riding Saturday afternoon, but being outside for 7 hours, setting up and selling things I no longer wanted or needed at the yard sale, was exhausting. Excellent turnout, though. How was your weekend?
