Bob's Big Boy Diner in Norco, CA hosted a classic car show and vintage era pinup girl contest yesterday evening. I received the invitation to join the contest from a good friend of mine and decided to give it a shot. I am infatuated with the era's fashion and overall glamour.
The sun was blazing, the cars were rolling in, and the pinup contestants were sporting the iconic red lips. As we gathered around for introductions, it was noticeable that we all had our own unique yet vintage style.
Melanie wore a fantastic black one piece bathing suit with a black sarong to match it.
Tera looked like a member of the women's army corps, absolutely loved her hat.
Nicole and Angie were definitely the sexy ones of the bunch. A short mini skirt and a short dress showed off their legs.
Monica wore a pretty military green halter dress with red buttons. Her hair complimented her look beautifully well.

As for my look, I wanted sexy, elegant and glamorous...how did I do?
My dress was provided by the wonderful Alicia Estrada designer of Stop Staring Clothing. I don't know if it was the dress' name that did it (the same as my mom's nickname) or the flare at the bottom of the dress, but as soon as I laid eyes on Lula in the color eggplant, I was sold. I felt comfortable in the dress, which was important to me given that we were going to be walking around and posing in front of the cars for quite a few hours.
Check out Stop Staring's blog, you won't get enough of it.
My hair and make up were provided by Hector Rodriguez of Bela Hair Studio in Ontario, CA. Double lashes, check. Thick eyeliner, check. Red lipstick, check. Hair extensions, check. My makeup endured the scorching rays of the sun and my hair behaved in the wind, not bad...not bad at all.
