Last evening was a scene taken out of a Hollywood movie. Unreal, fast and with a fantastic ending. This past March, I won a meet & greet with the Queen of Latin Pop, Gloria Estefan! I owe many thanks to Exitos 93.9fm, because of them I had a fabulous meet & greet and will be flying across the nation by the end of the month! As mentioned in a previous post, Miami is just around the corner. Gloria and Emilio's management were very attentive and only fueled the anxiousness and excitement my mom and I have been feeling for months about our upcoming trip.
"Are you ready?" -said the woman with the cowboy hat and boots in charge of moving the line along to take a picture with John Rich, Joe Jonas, Nelly and Gloria Estefan.
Our meet & greet was held at The Orpheum Theater, right before the taping of the new show, The Next. There were about twenty people ready to meet the four stars, but I was looking forward to exchanging just a few words with Gloria Estefan.
"Yes!" - I said as I had my guitar "Lola" ready in hand with a sharpie.
Gloria looked beautiful, so warm and welcoming. She was incredibly sweet and was kind enough to sign my guitar. "A ver, donde tu quiere que te la firme? En espaƱol?" Her Cuban accent made me wish I had an accent of my own! I panicked for a second, my sharpie was not working, I looked hopelessly at the crowd hoping someone saved me from my short-lived misery. Then Gloria asked, "Alguien tiene un sharpie?" Heather, Gloria's representative saved me...while Gloria joked, "Oh, look...a professional sharpie!"
My mom handed Gloria her lastest CD to sign and she wished my mom and I a great time in Miami, she assured us we were going to have a lot of fun.
After a quick photo and many thanks to Gloria, Frank, Gloria and Emilio's other representative came up to my mom and I and told us that everything is set and ready to go for Miami. He proceeded to take a picture of my mom and I with Emilio Estefan who also signed my guitar.
Big thanks to Ivania from Exitos 939.fm for her kindness, patience and enthusiasm. Heather, for saving the day with the professional sharpie and allowing me to take "Lola!" Frank, for the sharing the excitement with us about the trip and of course, the Gloria and Emilio, this would not have been possible without them! Gracias de todo corazon.

| While waiting in line, I had the chorus of "Conga" stuck in my head, after seeing Nelly, I couldn't help but to sing the lyrics to "Hot in Herre" all the way back home ;) |

Yay!! Congrats and you look beautiful btw :)
You are such a winner! My mom would have killed to meet her. As a little girl I hated Gloria's music cause thats all my mom EVER listened to! She had all the tapes in her car. She even had a car accident and totaled the car and guess what survived? The Gloria Estefan tape! But now I like her a lot, she seems really sweet. I want to go eat at her restaurant in Miami. You should go for me and eat some ropa vieja. And you do have an accent. Go to Cuba, Im sure they will tell you you do :)
How awesome! you look gorgeous! :)
